Toys”R”Us is Britain's biggest Family Leisure, Baby Care and Toy Megastores with 73 stores nationwide. Toys”R”Us was founded in the UK in 1985 with the opening of 5 stores and since then has grown throughout the United Kingdom.

The brief

Toys”R”Us is a well-established online retailer, launching its first online site over twelve years ago. Toys”R”Us re-launched its ecommerce site to support the growing popularity of online shopping, and enhance the customer experience by adding interactive content. They then needed to ensure the constant availability of the site and the security of online payments. For Toys”R”Us it was important to make the site animated and interesting to potential customers in order to lift the sales conversion rate, and in late 2008 this site was re-launched to include more interactive services such as rotating images, and more regular product additions.

The result

Toys”R”Us chose TelecityGroup to provide fully managed hosting, security and back-up. Toys”R”Us worked with TelecityGroup to design and implement an infrastructure to suit its capacity needs, including fully managed Linux servers, connectivity, load balancing, managed switches and managed backup for business continuity. Managed firewall and Intrusion Detection Prevention was also included to help to protect the website and customer information.
